BRIEFING MATERIAL for Tomorrow’s Europe participants
This note gives an overview of the topics you will discuss with citizens from other EU countries. Its purpose is not to cover every possible angle. It:
Provides information on the EU.
Gives background information on each of the issues to be discussed, fi rst at the level of your country first, then at the EU
level.
Presents different possible policy approaches to these issues and arguments for and against each approach. These
approaches are simplifi ed, as the diversity of opinions expressed across Europe is too vast to be presented in all its
complexity. However, these approaches are not meant to limit options but rather to get a dialogue starting. As you consider
the arguments presented, you may want to pick an entire approach or to combine elements from different approaches.
